That's part of the reason they weren't that successful in the marketplace. They just didn't have the dynamic fizz of the smaller cars.

All that's fixable nowadays though.

Some structural reinforcing and coilovers for suspension and that Alfa could be one mean machine.

Absolutely. Just some wider rubber would do wonders. One of the major criticisms of contemporary road testers was that they rode on the same skinny 165 section tyres as the Giulia.
